SWEET BILLY PILGRIM AND PORTICO QUARTET

INTERNATIONAL PREMIERES - NEW MUSIC AT SÃO LUIZ
MAIN AUDITORIUM
Mon, 9pm

Synopsis

This is the first concert in Lisbon of the british bands Sweet Billy Pilgrim e Portico Quartet.

Twice Born Men, Sweet Billy Pilgrim´s new album has also received excellent reviews: the Sunday Times places it among the 20 best in 2009 and Mojo magazine refers to the "songs´perfect form". This perfect form brought them also a nomination for a Mercury Prize this year.

Portico Quartet move between the very modern jazz and the erudition of Philip Glass. The Guardian describes them as having a "seducing melodic instinct" and applauds without any reservations the album Knee Deep In The North Sea, which was nominated in 2008 by the jury of the Mercury Prize. A new album, ISLA, has been received by the critic enthusiastically.

Co-production  SLTM ~ UGURU
