In the second instalment of the Bailados Portugueses project, pianists Duarte Martins and Philippe Marques rediscover the famous Dança da Menina Tonta, one of the most remarkable ballets that Frederico de Freitas composed for the Verde Gaio company. The adventures of a small village in Trás-os-Montes, where a strange girl will become the most beloved of all, are the central theme of this concert, to which excerpts from Cinderella that Sergei Prokofiev composed in the fruitful year of 1941 are added.
The concert marks the beginning of a collaboration between Teatro São Luiz and MPMP – Movimento Patrimonial pela Música Portuguesa. Created in 2009, this platform brings together different projects on behalf of the dissemination of music of the Western classical tradition and is dedicated to the edition, recording and presentation of the works of Portuguese musicians.
