Description

A sound, a smell, a touch, a pain, a flavour, a fragrance, an image, a perception. When a smell from our childhood or the distant past comes to mind, when a face comes to our ears or eyes that the wind and life have blown away, or that death and its nature have not forgotten to tear away from us, when passing through the streets a perfume brings to our memory the nostalgia of a body and soul that we once embraced.

What is memory? Who would we be without it?

Memory: seven letters that make up a word that is the essence of humanity, which with time, which is its companion on the road, erases or revives the consequences and actions of an unpredictable life.

Memory is the theme of the project A Tempo da Terra Amarela, curated by Marco Paiva, and Aliu Baio and Raquel André are one of the three pairs challenged in this project. Aliu has always wanted to work on a theatre text and Raquel hasn’t performed one for some time. They also share a common relationship with the fear of losing their memories. In this project they explore scenic materials based on texts, music, movement, smells, encounters with people and other senses.

A Tempo | Triptych on idleness

“We’ve never met. We’ve never exchanged a word or a gesture, but without knowing it, we’re going to spend three weeks together.” A Tempo is a multidisciplinary creation in three acts that challenges three pairs of artists from different languages to work around the same motto: the relationship between ‘being and time’. Without ever meeting, each duo works towards this common performative object that mirrors three different axes – Communication, Space and Memory – the need to rethink time and the quality of relationships. Curated by Marco Paiva, A Tempo brings together André Uerba and Tony Weaver (Communication), André Murraças and Mia Menezes (Space) and Raquel André and Aliu Baio (Memory).
