Pianist Aaron Parks is an innovative jazz musician who came to public attention when he began playing with trumpeter Terence Blanchard. Born in Seattle, Washington, he started playing the piano at a very young age and at the age of 14 entered an early entry program at the University of Washington. Originally, he followed science and music courses in parallel; However, his prodigious talent prevailed and at the age of 16 he transferred to the Manhattan School of Music in New York, where he studied with the renowned pianist Kenny Barron. At 18 he joined Blanchard’s band and subsequently recorded four albums with this veteran trumpeter. In addition to several albums under his own name or with his band Little Big, Parks’ collaborations range from Blanchard and Kendrick Scott, to singer Gretchen Parlato and to instrumentalists such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joshua Redman, Matt Penman, and Eric Harland. He is still active in his trio with the historic drummer Billy Hart and the double bassist Ben Street with whom he recorded the album Find The Way in 2017. In this concert he is accompanied by the double bassist Ben Street and the extraordinary drummer Greg Hutchinson.
