ALMO & Júlio Resende present a concert where the creative and improvising ability of pianist and composer Júlio Resende combines with the interpretative talent of singers Paulo Lapa (tenor) and Tiago Matos (baritone). In a symbiosis between jazz, improvisation and singing, they seek a sound that does justice to the essence of Fado and Portuguese Songbook, without being exclusively and intrinsically linked to jazz and lyrical aesthetics. ALMO, which derives from the Latin “almus” (an adjective that poetically qualifies what cares; what creates; creator), gives its name to the “journey” that the two singers decided to take, on a path of freedom in search of the space to rediscover the soul of Fado and the Portuguese Songbook. It is with Júlio Resende that they sing the essence of Portuguese music. The debut CD was released on September 23, 2023 on the Sony Music label. Since then, several concerts have been performed at national and international festivals.
