ALMO & Júlio Resende present a concert where Júlio Resende’s creative and improvising capacity as a pianist and composer is combined with the performing talent of singers Paulo Lapa (tenor) and Tiago Matos (baritone). In a symbiotic relationship between jazz, improvisation and singing, they seek a sound that honours the essence of fado and the Portuguese Songbook, without being exclusively and intrinsically linked to the jazz and lyrical aesthetic. ALMO, from the Latin almus (an adjective that poetically describes he who cares for; he who creates; creator), lends its name to the “journey” that the two singers have decided to embark on, a path of freedom in search of the space to rediscover the soul of fado and of the Portuguese Songbook. Together with Júlio Resende, they sing the essence of Portuguese music. Their debut CD was launched on 23 September 2023 by Sony Music. Since then, they have performed in various concerts at national and international festivals.
