Bonecas is inspired by a story that writer Afonso Cruz told Ana Luena and José Miguel Soares that will be included in his next novel; it is also inspired by Paula Rego’s universe, whose creative process, so unique, stimulates by analogy the creation of this performance. It is also based on the experiences of artistic creation shared with a group of girls from a temporary reception center and with women victim of domestic violence. It is through feminine and cruel territories that we witness in Bonecas a role reversal, where the victims are prisoners in their own victim condition, and the interpreters represent the dichotomous relationships in which submissive and dominant confuse themselves, where strength and vulnerability are presented as a tableau vivant.
