In 2009, the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa played against the breathtaking scenery of the Pedra Lume salt flats, in the island of Sal. This was the first time that a classical orchestra performed in Cape Verde, and even back then side by side with Tito Paris. Fifteen years later, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, they are joined on the São Luiz stage by the voices of Cremilda, Lura and IIolanda, this time to mark the centenary of the birth of Amílcar Cabral, the African political leader who imagined the freedom of the peoples under colonial domination and carried out that purpose, both militarily and diplomatically, until his fateful death, in 1973. The symphony Oceano Atlântico, by Vasco Martins, will open the programme.
