book release Casio Tone: Domicília dos dois lados do espelho
Born in 1997, Mrs Domicília lives in the same place today: a tiny apartment where original and replica are confused. Her geometrically absurd, neurotically ordered body speaks of a present that is also, and perhaps increasingly, ours: the reverse of the reverse, the imitation of the imitation. Domicília is virtually capable of reproducing any movement, any intention, without ever telling us who she really is. A reflection of modern life.
The revival of Casio Tone (1997) is dedicated to the memory of Mónica Lapa (1965-2001), a prominent figure in the history of Portuguese dance, who accompanied the beginning of this adventure and captured the iconic image of Senhora Domicília in photographic form.
Sílvia Real is one of those rare performers who know precisely how to transform a minimum of data into unparalleled theater that is comical to the point of madness.

Book launch Casio Tone: Domicília dos dois lados do espelho
Friday, 21:30 pm
Sala Bernardo Sassetti
In connection with the debut of Casio Tone Reprise, the book Casio Tone: Domicília dos dois lados do espelho (ed. Produções Real Pelágio) will be launched, in a bilingual Portuguese/English edition, with texts written by Pedro Pinto, artist and researcher in critical studies on the body and sexuality, based on the show by Sílvia Real and Sérgio Pelágio.
In addition to a selection of images and photographs from the Casio Tone Archive, the book also includes two previously unpublished texts: Cuidado com o meu espaço! an ArtRose scenario by Gil Mendo (1997), and Onde está o cenário?, a script written by Sérgio Pelágio (2002).
author’s note
This book is not quite an essay, it is not quite fiction,
it’s not really a biography, it’s not really about the history of dance,
even less is it an academic book – and it is all of that at the same time.
Pedro Pinto
