The Orquestra FIlarmónica Portuguesa, conducted by its Principal Conductor and Artistic Director, Osvaldo Ferreira, will perform at Teatro São Luiz for the first of a series of concerts dedicated to Europe. In the first part, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in B minor, Op. 104, by Antonín Dvořák, the last concerto for soloist that was written by this Czech composer. The soloist is Benedict Kloeckner, one of the most outstanding and talented cellists of his generation, winner of numerous competitions and international distinctions. In the second part and in its absolute premiere, a work by Sara Ross (Metamorfoses de Amor) is revealed on a text by Alexandre Honrado. Metamorphosen, by Richard Strauss, is also interpreted, a study for 23 solo strings (ten violins, five violas, five cellos and three double basses) composed between August 1944 and March 1945, during the final phase of World War II.
