The Nihuju Trio is made up of saxophonist and singer Eunice Barbosa, guitarist Hugo Gonçalves and double bassist Juliana Mendonça. The saxophonist and guitarist met in 2016, while studying at the Luís Villas Boas Jazz School (Hot Clube de Portugal) and in 2020 they met the double bassist while they were all studying at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, pursuing a degree in Jazz. With the desire to make music together and celebrate jazz in the best way, they created this trio, where they present a repertoire based on standards from the American songbook and, sometimes, working on specific albums by their jazz heroes.
