The Jardim Aberto cycle continues the Foyer Aberto programme, a great success with the public, and maintains the free admission format for recitals and outreach concerts, in which musicians from the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa and/or the Coro do Teatro Nacional de São Carlos perform in small ensembles, showcasing their virtuosity as soloists. The cycle now takes on a new dimension with the admirable setting of the Bernardo Sassetti Hall at the São Luiz Theatre.
BOMTEMPO: MORE THAN A PIANIST
The composer’s name recurs in concert halls and is well known among music lovers. But how curious it is to realise that the man’s entire activity and importance is not confined to a handful of works repeated in concert. Who knows about his role as a founder of orchestras, as a director of a conservatoire, as a politician and, above all, as an instrumentalist in a pianistic school that was pivotal in establishing the path from Beethoven to Liszt?
