The first time that Luís Madureira crossed paths with Mascarenhas-Martins was in 2019. He went to help with vocal and elocution preparation for the show in which the company was working back then. Today, the singer, actor and teacher is part of this structure, having taken part in several of its shows as a performer, and directing the courses dedicated to his favourite instrument: the voice. Therefore, it seemed natural for Luís Madureira to celebrate 50 years of his professional trajectory with Mascarenhas-Martins. Modéstia à Parte is a staged concert that aims to revisit some of the singer’s repertoire over the course of this long period.
In 2024, the year in which the show opened at Casa da Música Jorge Peixinho, in Montijo, Luís Madureira commemorated 50 years of his professional trajectory — since he started as a chorist in 1974 at the Gulbenkian Choir. As a singer, he performed in many renowned Portuguese and international theatres, and became famous for his collaborations with Jeff Cohen, Olga Prats and Constança Capdeville. He was a vocal teacher at ESML and Instituto Gregoriano, and was responsible for actors’ vocal work in countless performances, including a long season at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II. At the theatre, either as an actor or as a singer-actor, he crossed paths with directors like Ricardo Pais, Luis Miguel Cintra, Rogério de Carvalho, Nuno Carinhas.
