Sofia Hoffmann has for several years kept a delicate balance between her career as a marine biologist and her enormous passion for music. This passion has already led her to several Portuguese and international stages. One Soul, her debut album, is, with some of the most talented Portuguese jazz musicians, a decisive step towards her passion and, at the same time, a tribute to some of the personalities that have left an indelible mark in her music, her soul. Among them, singing teachers Maria Do Rosario Coelho, Laura Fedele and Maria João, but also “Acharya” Roop Verma, disciple of Ravi Shankar, with whom she studied Indian classical music, and with whom she learned sitar, an instrument Sofia plays on the album’s title track. One Soul is a delicate stained glass window where all the colours of Sofia’s soul shine, but it is also a mirror where all music lovers can see the reflection of her soul.
